Abide in Jesus

Do you want to be used by God?

If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, I am sure your answer is YES! Anyone who has experienced a life change in Jesus Christ begins to have a heart that desperately wants to be used by him.

But so often, we put the stuff we want to do BEFORE God himself. If you’ve caught yourself doing that- take a moment to stop and evaluate your life.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. John 15:5,6

Jesus clearly states that we can do NOTHING apart from him. Anything that has eternal value cannot be accomplished without Jesus alive within us. If this is the case, how important do you think it is to cultivate your relationship with Jesus on a DAILY basis?

There are SO many distractions in the world we live in. Between the responsibilities of life, work, entertainment, family and friend parties, hobbies, and much more, there are many things that will try to pull us away from God. As Christians, we have an enemy who will do everything in his power to distract us from prayer and spending time in the bible.

Being alone with God apart from distractions is what we need to be effective for the kingdom of God. If we want to join God on His mission in preaching the gospel throughout the earth, we need to be walking with Him daily. We need to be meditating on the word of God, allowing that to transform us. And we MUST be in prayer- constant communication with God the Father.

If we truly loved God, no one would have to convince us to do these things. Your heart will burn with desire to get alone with Him. Jesus meant it when he said- apart from me you can do nothing.” We need to take that more seriously. We need to make spending alone time with Jesus a priority.

Before you reach burn out- stop and revaluate your life. Get alone with God and allow Him to transform you from the inside out so you can be used by Him.

And dare I say- turn off your phone for a few hours. Give up the hours of t.v. you watch every night. Stop playing those video games for a little bit. Take a step back away from friends and family drama. As I look at the things we WASTE our time on, my heart breaks. Time is short and fragile. Anyone could be gone in a moment. God wants us to give EVERYTHING to Him, and one of many reasons is because He knows the number of days we have left. When you live for Jesus, the petty, pointless things of the world don’t matter anymore. You will begin to have a new appreciation for life, and will begin to live for the things that matter most.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12
