What else do we need?

As a family of believers, there are amazing things that happen when we decide to follow Jesus.

Our sins are forgiven, we get into relationship with the Father we have the promise of heaven and we have the gift of the Holy Spirit. So today I thought I would talk to you about the Prince of peace, the God of love and that power of the Holy Spirit to endure whatever comes our way.

Think about it-what else do we need?

If we could have peace that surpasses all understanding, and felt perfect love and had the power to overcome we then are equipped for whatever comes our way. Everything is available with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. What hinders us from living in the fullness of all of that?

Well, there is Satan- the devil that has been handing out substitutes our whole life. The lies, that say will be happy when we get the new house, the new car, take that next vacation, more money with that career change, or that new relationship. If Satan can get us to focus totally on these things and take our focus off the Trinity, that’s when we may experience a void or feel like something is missing in our life. The devil will try to fill that void with other substitutes. It might be the substitutes of alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography, poor relationships, or shopping- the list goes on and on!

The devil will do anything to distract us from having a relationship with God. So, what happens when a surprise storm, adversity, or circumstances that are out of our control hit? How long does it take you to turn your focus on the Lord? This will give you a good indication on how the negative influences of the devil substitutes have affected you. A great example of what to do is in the story of Jesus walking on water. Peter now walking toward Jesus on water and all of a sudden, he turns his attention to the wind and the storm. Peter like most of us when that happens started to sink. What he did next is a great example of what we all need to do. He turned to Jesus right away and said save me! Jesus did and lifted him up to the boat and gave peace to the storm. When life seems to be out of control, the sooner we turn and say save me, the sooner we will feel the peace, love and the power to endure. Don’t let the trap of the substitutes distract you from the privileges of being a child of God. If the substitutes have a hold on you, just turn to God ask him to save you, then start to follow him and your life will never be the same again. Never take your eyes off of Him Love, Peace and Power-What else do you need?

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

God bless,
